Noisy speaker question...

Speakers do not normally make sounds that are not in the input, unless a driver is rubbing its voice coil, etc.
The noise does not seem to be like that. Is the noise in both of the speakers?
Does the noise increase if the volume is increased? Have they tried the speakers on another amplifier?

Thanks for your response!

I've tried to get some more "detailed" answers from the current owner to see if it's coming from one or both drivers. Sadly, they are not able to tell if it is. Agree, it's a strange noise for sure.

The noise is only in one speaker.

Have they switched speakers back and forth on the amplifier outputs, so it can be determined
whether the same speaker always has noise, or if it's the same amplifier channel that's noisy?
A novice may not understand that the noise could be in the amplifier, not in the speaker.

You are right. I've asked so many questions, I think I've exhausted asking any more... And I'm not sure what they are wanting for them - keep saying "best offer". So I think I'll make them an offer and take my chances...

Make only a very low offer, under $50, or you may regret it.
You don't have to buy this particular pair, there are many others available both new/used.

This may be the problem, beware.
Cone separated after 6 months. Bought these to replace FL/FR surround speakers. Sounded much better in the beginning, and as time went on a distict rattle could be heard from one of them. I pulled the grill to inspect, and the surround around the cone looked fine. A slight bit of pressure, and the cone popped off. It had been separating at the center for weeks.

Thanks brother! Yeah, I should have bought them from Parts Connexion when they had some factory referbs they were selling for a silly low price. Sadly, did not. Trying to figure out a $ value to offer. Don't want to insult, but also don't want to get burned. I know Klipsch Canada will sell parts to me directly. Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Yeah. Sadly, those don't ship to Canada. The ones I have access to here are 249cdn.

Checked w Klipsch and the woofers are 40cdn each

I was thinking 50usd for the pair. They are described as new looking.

And he is insisting only one speaker is making noise.

Personally, I'd say not worth the hassle. Are they these speakers?

If so, certainly nothing there that would make me go out of my way to deal with a possible repair... If they aren't willing to give you more info, and keep saying 'best offer', that to me indicates they know they are broken and don't want to deal with someone who asks questions. It's not like these are particularly rare speakers, I'd cut your losses and move on. Just my .02.
