I sit corrected. When it comes to questions about single malt, the correct response is "Yes Please". However, sometimes we prefer the Fifties Miles Davis, sometimes the Seventies.Single malt drinking is a religion, and discussion of which is best has no place here.
So you'll be enjoying "Right Off" from "A Tribute to Jack Johnson" then? Agreed, there is a certain amount of mutology, but also a lot of eyeballs out blowing. Johnny Mac also shows us how to play the electrical guitar.

Hated that album. Really and truly hated it. Saw Miles live around that time and realized that the musician was gone, leaving only an angry man (with a privileged background, millions of dollars, and huge public adulation) who wanted to make Important Statements. Never bothered with him again.
Second that with the Jura. The island malts seem to retain the tastes of the peat and the sea, without the technicolour biff that the Islay malts like Lagavulin go for. Either is of course perfect for discussing moon landings; preferably while viewing said celestial orb while listening to Chris Kenner's "Rocket to the Moon" and other lunar friendly tunes.
Interesting, I quite like Lagavulin so I think I will have a look around and see if I can find Jura around here...

Well I was thinking of earlier Miles. 50s-60s maybe.
I'll have to over to UNCG and have a look at his trumpet.
Steven and Kevin - Jurassic scotch?

After the gem "Kind of blue" , it became all about business.
So you'll be enjoying "Right Off"
I enjoyed the guitar part, the trumpet sounds kind of dead in comparison. 🙂
I can see we'll have to disagree about Seventies Miles. He must have been the only person in the world to have Stockhausen on the 8track of their Lamborghini. "Play the guitar like you don't know how to, John".
I like the idea of Jurassic Scotch - what is the oldest distilling culture anyway?

Distillation started in the Pakistan/India region around 500-300 BC.
Around 1300 AD, distillation became prevalent in Europe.

Mmm, he might have done one or two things worthwhile after that, but in general, you're exactly right. Business and self-indulgence.

I had Stockhausen on cassette in my Fiat. Does that count? 😛
Sure glad to know I'm not the only one who has "issues" with Miles. I had begun to think he was beyond reproach in the music world.
I tried playing Luciano Berio in my car once. It actually frightened one of the passengers.😀I had Stockhausen on cassette in my Fiat. Does that count? 😛
On another occasion my choice of music convinced someone his hifi was broken. "It's supposed to sound like that" just didn't cut it - we had to change the music (which was probably a good idea anyway).
Oh well, to each his own...

We must assemble a crack team of archaeologists and find these bonded warehouses immediately!

I always ask buffs who go on about "tunes" and "rhythm" what if the music has no tunes or rhythm to start with? I believe the Linn Sondek was able to supply these all on its own.

It was "Kind of Blue" I didn't really like, still don't own a copy.
I'm off to B&Q DIY store now, the charger to my drill has died.

Ha! Great! I can only imagine. Funny, reading the name didn't trip a memory at first. Had to say it out loud. "Oh, yeah, Berio."

Hurray. I love all that goofy mid 20th century stuff. Bario, Boulez, Stockhausen, Ligeti, Hindemith, Davies, etc. Actually got to work with some of those cats back in the 80s (IRCAM & GRM). It was fun.
Good point ,Officer 😛
Beyond the fact that cabinets and loudspeakers are our religion , we have to cope with their limits and , as often has been said ,perfect (reproduced) sound can't (really) exist . Like humans ...perfection is not of this world.
Don't take me for the black crow (like Carlos said:what they love to hear ,distortions !! ) as I really enjoy playing music through the "mess" I make...🙂

I might be in trouble here - I run Quad ELS57s - no cabinet! Just been listening to a big Sibelius concert from Minnesota on Radio 3. Better not say it was divine....
