How do we know it's something stupid like "resistorphobia" and not "wasting 300VDC@25mA is just that - wasteful"? (OP didn't say what the B+ was, but 450VDC isn't uncommon for B+)
So, many of you are asking yourselves why? From a "less is more" perspective, reducing the number of resistors and DCR of other components should offer a faster transient recovery from the power supply to the tube, in this case the driver tube. I could be wrong, although I have heard/read from others that this is true.
Eventually, the power supply will be stacked, but for now, sharing the same power transformer and trying to reduce DCR is the goal.
