I just aquired a Nikko NR-1000 receiver. Checking to see if anyone has ever owned one of these or worked on one. I am sure it's probably going to need a good cleaning and switches/controls deoxed.

Check the lamps are working they can be replaced with LED,s if too bright ( 470 ohm resistor ), memory retention might not work .
While the amplifier section is quite good the receiver section isn't as sensitive as some old top end manual tuning models of other makes so you will need an aerial/antenna to pick up some FM stations in stereo .
Hope you didn't pay over $100 for it ?

$75 no shipping. I have a Nikko NA-890 integrated and love the sound. I seen this receiver and jumped on it. I am sure a recap would do it justice as 40 years is a lot of time on old electrolytics
I got the receiver in. Busted open the case and yep it's dusty but not bad. Flipped it over and right off the bat I see that 2 of the output transistors had been changed. The originals were Toshiba 2sb755 and 2sd845. They were replaced with Sanken 2sa1215 and 2sc2921 respectively. Kinda lets me know there was a problem with this receiver at sometime, duh. I will take some pics after I blow the dust out. Has a lot of old Rubycon caps. Some caps have no markings other than polarity and size.
First thought is should I replace the old Toshiba outputs with the newer Sanken's??

Well it's non operative. Never comes out of protection mode. Never hear the relay click and a him coming from the transformer. This after cleaning, deoxed pots and replaced main caps. The replaced caps were 10000if 55v with 12000uf 63v nichicon.
As a sanity check I put the old caps back in and same thing. When I first powered up after receiving it it was fine and came out of protection mode
Apparently it didn't like the dust being blown out.
