This Wavetek 30 Mhz function-generator is a very nice instrument; with many very useful features and functions besides just sine and triangle waves.
In the first place, it's also a Sweep generator. You can sweep a 1000:1 range of frequency easily.
It has all sorts of sweep setups; including smooth, stepped, pulsed, gated, burst-sweeps, etc. etc.. It's great for sweeping filters and measuring frequency-response; either AF, IF, or RF.
In the second place, this 164 can also be used as a Pulse Generator; and with variable-transition times too. I found that very useful for designing Switching Power Supplies; where I needed to choose an edge-rate for the Power-FET gate-drive that would optimize the balance between switching-losses and RFI generation (shown in the pics on my webpage).
As you'll see in those pictures, this unit is in good shape....front-panel is very good...knobs are great.....no cracks or missing knob-caps....everything is straight and ship-shape.
Those pics of the 164 making several waveforms are on my webpage here:
