Newcastle Mini Keg - Party Rocker

I've got an idea. 😱 I'm not saying its a good idea, just that I've got an idea.

I been looking at the various DIY projects here, and started thinking; "How difficult would it be to turn an Newcastle Mini-Keg, or Heineken Mini-Keg, into a Party Rocking System?

My thoughts are basically a good down facing Sub-woofer, a few horns, an headphone jack, or RCA inputs on top and finally, an internal rechargeable battery (for long lasting music)

I could only imagine the look on peoples faces when you show up to a party with two mini-kegs in hand. (One for drinking and the other for rocking the party)....

I've actually already got a few empty mini-kegs sitting in my garage.

Anyone have any ideas, and/or recommendations on what would make this thing work?

I got my idea from the picture attached.

Thanks in advance for any help,

UPDATE: 12/30/14: So I was looking at the old mini-kegs that I had sitting in my garage, and noticed some rust building up..... Just to be on the safe side, I thought it might not be a good idea to start with items that have rust building up on the inside.

That said, it looks like I have to go out and purchase a new mini-keg for this project. Unfortunately that means I have to drink it all so that I can start. 🙁 ugh.... I guess all good projects need a bit of sacrifice.... 😉

With some noise absorbing carpet inside.

I can recommend a driver, Kicker makes some ok 6.5" subwoofers.

As for a battery you would be limited to 18650 or lithium, sealed lead acid is too heavy and clumsy and nobody really respects the proper charging methods for SLA ending up in a battery which will only last a year. SLA is never meant to be discharged below 50% depth, that means 12.3v.

Then you'll need a smart charging board..

Cost keeps on going up and up, there isn't one premade that you can buy? 🙂

I build a nice little Wammer-Jammer with a 6.5" single point stereo ceiling speaker and a small chip amp. It accepts line level input so if you wanted to connect a git-fiddle to it, you would need a preamp..

This is quick and rough but it worked out well. It's a 2 gal. plastic paint bucket with ~2" of plaster of paris poured into the bottom to stop the drum head effect. Ended up with an internal volume of ~.2 ft. Damped the internal sides with some cotton batting. 3.5mm input, vol. control, 8 "AA" batteries and an LM7805 regulator. Plug a portable Bluetooth rcvr. into it and it's wireless. I have some refinements in mind but that will be for another day..

My Bucket-O-Tunes..
