I'm thinking about getting an Nview Z115 LCD which from my research seems like a very popular LCD for DIY projection... for those that have experience with this LCD, how good is the image quality when using it with a high power OHP? How close to the screen can a viewer get before starting to see lines and pixels?

Also, how am I supposed to know if the OHP I buy will have problems with producing a "hotspot" on the resulting image? I would assume the 4000 lumen + projectors don't have too many problems with hotspotting, since they were once very high end machines...

What is macrovision?

Thanks!!

Check out Jeff Hovis's web page to read about the 115. He liked it in his old setup.

This guy uses one too:

Macrovision is a copy protection tool that is put into software to prevent copying from DVD to VCR. It makes the contrast and brightness fade from very dark to very light every few seconds. It makes the movie unwatchable.

You need a device like the AV-3000 VGA Theater to get around Macrovision if you plan to hook up a DVD player directly into the panel. Or you could buy a DVD player that has disabled Macrovision.
