Im sorry if this has already been asked or has a very simple answer. I searched, both google and here, and didn't find what I was looking for. Right now my receiver accepts the standard 5 speakers, 2 front, a center, and 2 rear. How would I go about adding to the amount of speakers? Is it even possible without replacing the receiver? TIA

What you state as standard is standard for home theater surround called 5.1. If you want greater speakers in the surround format, there is another standard called 7.1. It consists of one center, two front, two side, and two rear. I believe it is available now (I am not much of a home theater buff) and does require the purchase of a new receiver with the 7.1 decoder.

I would like to have a floor standing speaker as well as a satellite for each channel. I know, I'd be better off getting better quality floor standing speakers but I have some satellites laying around and wanted to know if there is anyway to use them
just watch your impedance
I guess you can hook as many speakers as you like to your ampifier just make sure your impedance doesn't get to low. If you run two 8 ohm speakers parallel you get 4ohms if you run them series you get 16 ohms. If your amp can handle a 4 ohm load do it that way if not go series just keep in mind you'll have less total power available that way.
