I have decided to build this kit:
ALPS IR Remote Control Volume DIY Kit /w Input Selector 4CH & LCD Module (5 Ch) | eBay
I am planning on using an enclosure along the lines of an extruded aluminum case like these:
Aluminum, Extruded - Electronic Enclosures from Allied Electronics
I am OK with the point to point wiring, specing out the little bits and pieces, etc.
My question is on how to mount the PCB boards in the case. Do you use a bigger PCB board and use standoffs to attach the project boards? How do you mount the boards at different levels so that LEDs, LCD display and pot shaft line up where wanted? How do you mount the LCD screen so it looks neat?
I know this is basic stuff but any help or links to an appropriate resource would be appreciated.

I've used those exact enclosures before.
You might find it easier to use an enclosure that has a lid, it is a lot easier to drop the boards in then. If you want to stick with the extruded enclosure, the only way I can think of to mount the boards you have is to mount them onto plain copper clad board or 1.6mm aluminium. But then you end up losing height in the enclosure, which can make things pretty tight.
