Newbie circuit question - DC Adapter Power Supply

I'm building the power supply shown in figure 2 in the above url and I just needed a small clarification from one of you electrical circuit gurus out there. Am I correct in assuming that J1 is where the 12v power supply hooks up? If so, does the polarity matter or can I just hook up the pos and neg terminals to either side?

Yes J1 is where the supply hooks up. Connect plus from the power supply to the upmost wire (marked "+ve"), good luck!
