Hi, i plan to build one simple tube amp to drive my table top speaker. any suggestions?
i have experience in building opamp based and discrete head-amp but not a big amp that drives speaker. my skill is lousy when handling big and high power circuitry. pls give advice.thanks
pls provide links or schematics.

Hi Huangyong,
You might consider this amp:

I have no experience with it, but it is cheap,
and other folks have played with it.
Here is a link to Voltsecond's experiences with it:

Here is a thread that discusses some safety issues:

Please remember that you would be dealing with lethal voltages
, and that you alone are responsible for your own safety, and for finding out the dangers and how to minimize them. I hope this helps.
Good Luck!

Yup that's the one! That would be a good choice for an amp to drive your PC speakers IMHO! And as always be carefull and follow saftey protocols. Tube amps have High Voltage in excess of 200V or more.

Simple, low budget, and lowish voltage

It turns out a OPT suitable for a 2A3 works fine... i had a reader build one of these with the same genre of very small OPTs. After suggesting that the lack of bass was due to the OPTs he took a pr of Lundahls he hadn't used yet for his 2A3 project and hooked them up (making a 405 buck amp 🙂)

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Guess what? I tried your amp circuit running $400 OPTs, and it sounds
great!
Turns out the load resistance specified for the 50eh5 is the same as that
for a 2A3. Since I'm collecting parts for a 2A3 I have a pair of Lundahls,
and I hooked them up over the weekend. Bass a-plenty! In fact, I had been
under the impression that my TQWPs are a littlew weak on bass, but in fact
the bass response is quite good!
There did seem to be a little bit of high frequency distortion though, kind
of a sibilance, possibly what people refer to as OPT "ringing". I notice
this with my little Magnavox OPTs too, but less so. If I were going to
keep the Lundahls on there I would probably have to address the ringing.
As it is I get great midrange, great dynamics, brilliant highs (slightly
too brilliant). Over all spectacular considering the investment in parts
and time.

Not after I get done with 'em! He He...
I meant some home-made jobs! Like a 5.25" or 6.5" two way.
Wayne 😀
Aren't they all active speakers then?

thanks for the links. but what i need is some simple schematics, the provided link is a tube amp kit.
I can't afford paying that much , as a student, pocket money is really limited.
Anyway, thanks..

Hope you find what you need. Maybe someone has a link to a 12at7 poweramp. Now that would be cheap. One tube for SE triode stereo or PP mono

Even if you buy new parts, the 5-buck amp shouldn't cost more than $50... to keep the cost down you have to scrounge... and old console hifi or radio is also a good source of cheap iron.
