Hi everyone!

First of all im New to speaker building business 🙂 so look forward to some real dumb questions. Anyway I decided to build a a set of 2.1 for home. Mainly for music. Right now I have a Köenig 2.1 360w. Not a big sound quality but still better than the bloody laptop speakers. So main aim is to surpass that 😛

so I was reading around in the past few days and as I'm on a tight budget I decided on the following.

For the 2-way shelf speakers I'd go for a pair of Visaton MR130 as midrange
MR 130 - 8 Ohm
And a pair of Visaton TW6NG tweeters
TW 6 NG - 8 Ohm
Since these are closed back ones I don't have to worry about box design.

As for the woofer I picked a 30 cm Visaton W300.
W 300 - 8 Ohm
For this one the manufacturer was kind enough to state what size to f box I'll have to make. I'm going for the 70l closed box since as I red so far its more noobproof than a vented box.

As you can see all drivers have the same 8 ohm impedance. But now comes the part where its getting confusing for me. The crossovers. I'd like crossover points at 1000 and 5000 because from what I heard this is the band where we do most of our hearing and its not too god to have any disturbance in that range. S here come the questions. Is it worth to do this or its pointless? Also I don't really get how its done. First I have to use a low pass for the woofer and send the rest to the shelf speakers where I use a band path to the mid and a high pass to the tweeters?

Also I'll have to buy an amp for these. I heard it should be between 1.5-2.5x the rated wattage of the speakers/ channel. Does this mean in my case that 2x60w (tweet) +2x 80w (mid) + 160w (sub) = 440w x 1.5 = I need an amp with at least 660w rms?

Thanks in advance and any tips at welcome 🙂
