hmmmm alex 5 is 60 watts. How much power are the other ones? and how much approx are they built ? sorry to jump in without contributing info ...
Alex 2: 100watts 8 ohms more into 4 Ohms
Alex 4: 100 watts 8ohms / 4Ohms
Alex 3: 30 watts 8 ohms
Alex 1.2: 200 watts 8 Ohms
Volker 30: 30 watts 8Ohms / 60 4 Ohms
Volker 60: 60 watts 8 Ohms / 90 4 Ohms
And then there´s the Alex-X in different forms....

Those voltages are high, but you didn't mention whether the
transformers have dual primaries allowing 120/240 VAC. Also
you didn't mention whether the 42V secondary is center
tapped, which might be helpful.
If there are no dual primaries or center taps on the secondaries,
you could series 2 transformers to create 21 + 21 VAC, which
would get you into the 50 watt category, or you can simply use
2 transformers with 120V inputs to build an Aleph 1.2.
I guessed it was with one secondary! Not excactly the best thing for an amp, needing some WAF😀 But of course, it is possible to built it, that way😉 As I said, 42V secondaries is a bit high, especially for a Pass amp, that also needs some WAF😉 Right?Oh God! Four of them.. that will be a too large construction, they would be HUGE..

Re: Re: Newbe, witch Aleph should i build..?
It is a 240V primary and dual 42vsecondary 🙂
How much heat do the Aleph-5 make in Idle?
some say 240W each channel some say 150W, what is correct?
I plan to use a 500VA (DUAL 28v 🙂 ) trafo, this should be sufficient right?

Hi,
an Aleph 5 has ca. 34V secondaries and 2.1 A bias. Makes 2x34x2.1= ca. 140 watts.
Due to some tolerances the bias can be a bit higher or lower.

Is there any big difference in sound between the BOSOZ, CSS-X-Bosoz and P1.7 preamlifiers? I want to keep it simple, but don't want to reggret not building the other preamp when finished..
I'm looking for a good rotary switch for attenuator. Elma has some but i dont know where to buy them..
BrianGT had a group buy for Elma Serie A audio switch. but it was cancelled as i can see.
Is someone else interessed in making a new GB for these?

Thank you, but the price is a bit on the high side..
$250 is a lot of money for a volume adjuster..

A 4-deck Dact CT2 will cost about the same.
You did not check Schuro's deal !

Have a look at http://www.partsconnexion.com/catalog/controlsswitches.html
I used this for my modified BZLS using holco resistors. Total came to around $100.
