At least I don't recall seeing these posted here. Here is the 6.5". That high Q resonance probably demands a notch filter, but that is a pretty speaker. It looks as if the idea of fullrange drivers is becoming more mainstream! Like many other newer entrants these are not high efficiency, but incorporate some fancy tech and relatively long excursion. They are an offshoot of modern domestic hi-fi woofers rather than designs more PA or vintage (which of course makes sense given the manufacturer). Of course, I'd rather you buy my speakers, but I believe that fullrangers gaining traction is good for all of us!

I think the reference is to the sizable peak in the published curves. Vifa, by the way, specify response only to 4k, and the speaker is referred to as a "full range woofer" so maybe not quite a full-ranger as we generally think of them.

Indeed, that is to what I was referring. I'm pretty sure that Vifa would spec the vast majority of the drivers we think of as "fullrange" to only 3 or 4Khz. But other than that peak, this driver is awfully flat and extended! It isn't my style with its 20 grams of moving mass (3.5 watts here), but it sure is pretty to look at. I think the motor/basket would look good hanging out the back of an OB (woofer assisted, of course). I do hope some folks give it a shot run fullrange.

The off axis response roll-off starting around 2K (quite steeply at 60deg - but then who does most of their listening with that much toe-in?) would also need to be taken into account when selecting mid/tweet driver & XO topology.
Other than that, rather nice looking graph up to 1K - of course the sound is the thing. This should probably be thought of as a wide-range woofer, could make for a simple 2-way with appropriate wide band mid tweet (pick your flavor)

That's a sexy driver, and that resonance, while harsh, isn't THAT bad, it's only 5dB and pretty high up.
I know the smaller drivers may be a bit different than the 6.5" you posted, but I just received a pair of 2.5" that I ordered. They look really good.
I love the open design, and especially the translucent spider.

Would be interested in hearing your impressions on the NE85W

I would as well (the 2.5 especially). I am insterested in designing a TL or MLTL for this driver.

Tinitus, These look interesting and the sensitivity is not bad. With rigid cones I imagine there could be issues at HFs, at least I think thats what an old friend (Paddy, Electrofluidics) used to say.
after much debating what to make for my next speaker project I decided on a small 'spiral horn' enclosure using two full rangers around 4". Would like a driver with a smooth response and no 'shout' and reasonably high sensitivity- any recommendations?
