New video forum categories

First Off .. HI ALL 🙂 ...

I'm a long time reader, first time poster ...


anyhew ...

This is directed to the moderators of this site.
Can you please add more forums to the Video section, this single forum for such a wide variety of talk is really getting out of hand. I use Vbulletin on my website and it only takes a matter of minutes to setup so if one of you could please take the time to setup some more forums it would be greatly appricated by all of us.


Forum Suggestions: (forum name followed by forum comment)
General Video
--General Video Discussion that is non specific to any of the forums forums.
OHP - LCD Panels
--This forum is for discussion of different LCD panels used in creation of an Overhead Projection system and their results.
OHP - The Projector Itself
--Which Projector Should I Buy? Why Is the OHP so important.
LCD - Building The Box
--For Real DIY's, discussion of building your own LCD projector.
The Pic Post
--Post Pictures Of Your End Results / Designs Ect ..


If I missed anything guys feel free to yell at me 🙂 ... or add to this request post.

Mods - Not only will adding these forums make it easier for your users to find the information they need faster but it *should* lower the load on your server and especially the SQL server itself, this single forum has gotten huge and Vbulletin starts to hog after forums get *to* big. *begs please guys*

We tried this several months ago and it didn't work. Nobody noticed the new forums, and people posting in them had their questions mostly ignored 🙂

Feel free to comment on this, but like I said, we tried, and it didn't work.

how long did you have them running for ? ... I'm aware of a *recent messages* mod available for Vbulitten I just can't think of where I saw it. That might help a forum redesign easier as it will allow users to view new posts / or posted to threads no matter which forum they are located in (eg. Recent Messages for Video section - Showing last 100 threads)

I would like to see this too, just has to be moderated effectively though. Otherwise people won't post in the correct areas

grea idea..but how will the past threads be organized? some one would have to move all of them to their apropriate sections.I think this would of been a better idea if it was introduced in the beginning of the forums. I am for this change just to see hoe it would work ..but some people are just lazy and dont want complications so i dont know if this will succeed...

If we could get a list of what threads to move into which appropriate new forums, then it wouldn't take a mod too long to move them... with the new forums pre-loaded with content, and in particular, active threads the problem of them being ignored might well become a non-issue.

I think the two proposed OHP forums should just be one. Be easier to corilate things

edit-I am a moderator of a clan forum, geesh I am not sure about this either but I might be able to moderate one of the forums. It is vbulletin too.

I agree - less forums are probably better, but we do need to have say 4 forums ? ...

I think the trick is to just add one forum at a time. For example, "Product Reviews" or something where people can talk about and compare specific OHP's and LCD's, and have all threads related to that moved over to that forum. Basically, something specific that can easily be sperated from everything else. Worry about other categories later on.

I think the proposed categories are good but also very general. Maybe we should add a few more targeted categories so that we don't loose focus. How about adding.

dunno about a review forum, since review can be a subjective thing. One person can think a panel is great while others think it is crap.

well I was thinking mostly for posting Specs and such but yeah I agree with your point .. but it would be nice ot have a manual / specs posting forum ... not often used but overtime it could be real handy.
