New user post/tread moderation

As I picked up on a bit late, the initial 5 posts of a new user are moderated. I totally understand that, no one wants their forum spammed.

Here's the thing that got me puzzled:
My first post was a new thread. It took a few minutes for moderation, then came up nice and clear. But I realized I forgot to add an IMG to the OP, and so I edited it. Now the thread is there, but it appears as a completely empty thread (no #1 post).

Does the "first 5 posts" moderation, also apply to already moderated posts? Will a previously "accepted post" get taken down while awaiting moderation, or has some glitch occured?

(Thread affected, for reference, is http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/powe...inrush-current-buring-relays-diy-trigger.html )

He's having fun that you feigned trouble to clear moderation sooner so you could start hocking your wares without raising the eyebrows on the mod team I am guessing. A tactic of some of the less desirable members. Not to worry, we keep an eye on all members and we have a reporting system that allows regular members to bring these things to light if we don't notice first. I believe it was done in fun.

Enjoy your stay here.

Oh. Well, then you my good sir - is mistaken. I picked up on the "moderation of first 5 posts" right away, but was unaware that affected edits of any of those 5 first. I quickly notied I've forgotten to add a schematic image, and thus edited the post. The thread opening post then disappeared (due to repeated moderation, I know now).

The thread got quite a few views right at the start, meaning there was a good chance og a snappy resolvement of my issue. Once users see basicly a completely empty thread - from other forum experience, they're unlikely to revisit that thread. And as it drops down on the "new threads/posts" list - they get less attention. I was basicly hoping for a snappy moderation while the thread was still "fresh" - as I hate bumping my own threads - atleast early on. Do onto others and so on. Ethics.

I can, however, understand your string of thought. But I doubt the majority of spammers would go through the trouble of doing 5+ "elaborate" and "human interaction" posts, just do do automated spam afterwards. Seems a lot of hassle for a few short-lived spammy posts. My experience with this forums moderation so far, would suggest that any account builiding up for spam, would be booted off quite rapidly.

Oh - and pardon my rapid use of edits. I'm sort of OCDish about my grammar and punctation.

Nah... I was trying to be cute. I guess I failed.😛

I wasn't "calling anyone out". I guess my post left open some door for interpretation regarding my intentions. Maybe I should avoid trying to be funny or cute because I seem to often come across as a goof or jerk. If that's what it seems then I'm sorry.😕
