The meaning of sanctions is to build up pressure on all citizens thus creating unrest in the population.
Giving money to anyone in this population means that the pressure is reduced. In addition
sending real dollars into russia means that the state eventually will have more dollars available.
I guess it depends if you are paying in roubles or dollars. The guy at the other end gets roubles, but in between some very useful foreign exchange goes into some other organisation's pockets, and no doubt a nice bit of profit on the deal too.
And maybe the guy on the other end is not so opposed to the idea of a war either?
It is just to create a unified front during these times where there are limited means to make a stand.

Who really “owns” it is a matter of debate. Having a controlling interest (even 100%) is not really the same as “ownership”, which really does not exist anywhere. Try not paying taxes on your home or business and you’ll see who really “owns” it when the eviction notice goes up.
That aside, it’s a sticky situation because just about any company can be directed to shift production to what is required in time of war. I really doubt Mike wants to be caught in the middle of all this.

What "economic pressures"? The tariffs haven't started and the ruble is in the toilet. If anything, their costs should be down. To me, this looks like price gouging.

Can I just say if you have placed an order from a UK company and have paid for the goods this forms a 'contract'. This means they cannot pass on price increases to yourself nor can they offer a refund as an alternative because of the price increase.
