New tube production update from ehx

My dealer friend says he got an e mail last night stating ,not sure how complicated this is but I know some really cool guitar guys stopped sweating a bit.

Attention All EHX Tube Customers

The export restriction on Russian tubes has been resolved for now. We are accepting new orders, processing backorders, and hoping to resume shipping in April. Priority will be given to the oldest orders.

Considering various economic pressures, we must raise our wholesale prices. This price increase, to be announced separately, will apply to all back- and new orders. Also, there will likely be a further price increase once the U.S. implements heightened tariffs against Russian goods.

You can cancel any backorder, but we do not recommend this; there is a tremendous shortage of tubes.

Without russian tubes on the market prices would skyrocket due shortages. That means others could make extra profit based on this tragic war.
And which is worse? Your money going to Russia, or your money going to war profiteers in rest of the world?
Now, each of us have a choice.

Last I checked there were 3 main factories around the world still producing tubes (well, audio ones) and only 1 of them was located in Russia.

The vast majority of russian tubes being sold are military surplus from 30+ years ago. If you're buying those tubes from someone outside Russia, I think it's unlikely that you're supporting russians.

If you're buying new tubes that have been recently manufactured at the russian factory, it's a different story.

Feel free to support the human rights abuses in China by buying transistors. No one can wash their hands of it entirely unless they just quit the hobby. One just has to decide for themselves where they draw the line.
Good quality semiconductors are more likely to come out of Taiwan, United States, France, Italy or Korea than China.

Feel free to support putins war in europe, BUY RYSSIAN TUBES ! Every dollar goes to ammo and rockets.
If you on the other hand thinks that russia assult on ukraine is wrong then don't buy russian tubes.
This is simply not true. Buying tubes made in Russia from a US owned firm is hardly buying tubes from Putin. Neither is buying old tubes from a Russian man who's opposed to the war.

I’m curious, does anyone know if the Russian government owns any percentage of the tube company?
Granted, buying the stock that is on shelves here isn’t funding them, any more than not buying it since new isn’t coming over now.

I was also thinking... I bought a lot of Russian tubes quite a few years ago, mostly from Ukrainian sellers. I don't know exactly where in the Ukraine those sellers were located. Who was I supporting? I'm not sure...

If I buy surplus Soviet tubes from a seller in Moldova, who am I supporting?

Yup.
I think there are people all over Eastern Europe who have access to stores of surplus electronics who've been selling their wares on ebay and so on. I remember sharing messages over ebay with a Ukrainian seller who seemed very nice and conscientious. It's been years since then, and I can't remember the seller's ebay name.
