New Tri-Amp system.

Got my amps and the crossover I'm gonna use today for my new tri-amp 3ways. I just realized it's only 24db. Will that be a bad thing in the long run? I saw it's ok for mid and tweet but the woofer its usually best around 6db. What are the repercussions for having 24db on the woofer?

Thanks!

An active crossover for a "great speaker" has many complicated equalization stages. Linkwitz's website has educational material, and I've attached his example. When you include room equalization and perhaps loudness compensation tone controls a digital crossver solution starts to look attractive, especially when analog media(LPs and tapes) is not used. The interest in the MiniDSP digital crossover boards and PC software based crossovers is growing.

With the crossovers in your picture you may want to consider starting with a passive crossover for the Mid-Tweet, and your 24db/oct active crossover to the woofer.

As a personal P.S.... I find speakers with ~94-96db/watt efficiency to offer superior detail and dynamics over more traditional 86-88db/watt... even with your high wattage capability.

Thanks for the info. I thought the Ashley 2001 that I bought had selectable db, guess I should have looked closer... lol. I got it at a good price.

So you are saying the opposite? I keep hearing 6db on the woofer
