Hey all,
So I'd been searching for a TT for a while, looking beograms mainly although the price of the stylus' put me off (maybe something to buy in the future). in the end I managed to get an old philips GA212 which was in pretty bad condition so i stripped it down, cleaned it up and rebuilt it.
I think it came up pretty well. There are a few marks on the anodised finish, which in time I'll make new transfers and refinish the top.
The needle looks like the original so I will be shopping around for a new one. -Does anyone know of a good needle match for this turntable?
another question I have is does anyone know of any good entry level phono preamps that I could build?
I hope this post makes sense! I have a tendency to run on ...
Thanks for reading!

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Depends on your budget.
I'd suggest, if they are still available, a mid price Audio Technica. They are pretty good, and not too expensive.
For an entry level MC, the Dennon 103 or 103R is very popular.
You can search here for a variety of DIY phono preamps from simple to very complex, including tube and tube + solid state.
I think the current rage is the Pacifica, which is very simple.
