I had jumped in, posting problems and questions regarding a Heathkit AA 151 and Scott 222 amp without introducing myself. So here goes.
Hello from Hood Canal, Washington State. Just became aware of your site.
I still listen to a Hafler 220 and have been involved in SS kit building since the 80's: Borbely 60 amp and regulated power supplies, upgrading a dynaudio pre-amp and speaker building. Have subscribed to Audio Amateur and Speaker Builder, now Audioxpress's publications, since that time. Now almost exclusively building horns of my own design, experimenting with front and back wave loading, like the TP1, although I don't have the expensive drivers. I have reported on these experiments in articles in Speaker Builder. I further collect drivers, old and newer. I like the Siare 16 VR very much.
I am a psychotherapist by training, have worked in community mental health and just finished contracts working for the military.
At any rate, I have several tube radios, Radiola 80, Zenith Bell and a more modern German 'piano' console radio from the 60's. And they all play!
As noted earlier my pleasure now is upgrading the AA 151, and get my feet wet with high voltage! Thank you all for the response given already. This is a welcoming and helpful group of enthusiasts.

Robert.

Thank you Sy and Cal,

I am now in the building up stage of the AA 151 parts, the trannies and the sockets and tubes. I have taken the advise to drop all of the pre-amp and tone control and with a volume control on the grid of 6an6 I now have an input to the remaining amp.

I'll keep you posted on the AA 151 or Scott 222 thread.
Best,
Robert
