New Stasis front end

Hi Dennis.

If you look at the Nakamichi PA-5 and PA-7 stasis designs by NP, you will see that Nakamichi used the 2SA1294 and 2SC3263 transistors. I bought 25 of each from Arrow Electronics with free delivery to here from their warehouse, Digikey also has them at a slightly higher price ( when I looked anyway)

BDENT has them at a decent price as well and free shipping for >$99.

That is a good source for you guys in the US, but their shipping OS is horrendous.

You can also look at Sanken 2SA1695 / 2SC4468 or their higher power 2SA2223A / 2SC6145A (these are what D'Agostino Amps use).

Actually BDENT prices on all of these Sanken devices for 10 off quantities are the cheapest I have seen - it is a pity they sting us guys OS for air delivery.

Sanken Japan states the 2SA2223A and 2SC6145A are their equivalent to the On Semi MJL21193/94.

Another thought, if there is enough interest in the US, someone there could look into a GB for that country, as their 100 off price is $2.76 USD each. So that is a good saving with free delivery to the GB organizer.

When you think about it, in their day both the Threshold and Nakamichi designs were good looking amplifiers. The ultimate would be to put the true original Threshold design in the Nakamichi PA-7 enclosure.

Yeah! I have a PA7II, and would love to update it, but did Mr. Pass design it, or license it to Nak? If the latter, doubt he would feel the motivation, though it would be great.

SUSY Stasis FE

see graphical files

enclosed zip - all of those, plus Gerber files in separate folder

Disclaimer: If you're entering here without Elven Steel............

I didn't tried it, nor I will, but I'm pretty confident that it'll work

matter of offset stability, both absolute and relative (ignore a fact that I simply can't remember which one is which) - main thing needed checking in vivo

McMillan resistors, simple servo, complicated servo ....... we'll see ......

pcbs are cheap...... fun is priceless 🙂

note: zero Babelfishing....... Papa's FE from post #1 augmented to SUSY iteration
