Hi Screamer. Yes it was an enjoyable night. I dropped the Lpads out today and investigated things a little more.
The tweeters are still a little peaky but I did some connection checking as well. I play 95% of my music off the computer which takes the signal to zone 2 on my amp from the 3.5mm jack on the motherboard. As zone2 (Onkyo amp) only accepts analogue input this was fine. I had it connected to Aux inputs on the amp. I swapped to the vacant VCR input as substitute and got a lesson on why you should read the manual of the amp. 🙂

It seems that the Aux input is better suited to digital input, as there seems to be a gaining up of the signal when connected. Moving the input to an analogue input on the amp makes a massive difference.

While the tweeters are still a little shouty I think at worst they may only require 2 dB taken off the top. It was surprising just how much was clipped when using a -5dB Lpad in the system.

The other thing that was immediately clear was how well they are running in. Low level volume ( the type that's comfortable to talk over) still held nice soft lows with very clear mid/high range. I'll give them another 20 to 30 hours running before I decide on just how much I need to drop the tweeter. For most tracks its easy to listen to them.

One of my current favourites is Lana del Rays "Video Games" Stunning vocals and a really interesting song as well. Very good for mid range appreciation with a light rolling bass in the background. There's a lot of modern music I dont rate but this lass is one I do.
