New reflector Idea?

Ok so it was discussed in a thread last week getting a old lcd projector bulb and using that as the mold for a reflector for say a HQI setup, However I just was thinking the spark gap on a HQI is 1/4-1/2 in correct? so why not use a Old fxl refelctor once a bulb is burned out you should be able to rock the bulb back and forth to break the connecting pins/ wires and then your left with a nice refelctor. Just a thought, My OHP should be coming soon and it has a seperate reflector so I will see how that compaires to a FXL bulb reflector. L8er

video freek

howdy video freek getting into reflectors here, the reflector i think perfect for point source is a parobolic one out of a ohp, i have read in the forum lately about how a 59000lm hmi bulb is only 7000lm at the bed of the frensel, now i hope this is not too much off topic here but frensels are stealing our light. 2 reasons for this 1 rensels absorb light and not only that diffuse and not bounce manny rays strait i dont care what the manufactuer says it is what happends thats is in my experiences, and 2 the ring count also has to play a role in this the more rings u have the more diffused the light becomes therfore more rays all over the place. there is 1 other reason we loose so much light and that is cos of our beam with in a ohp, the wider the beam throw is the less intense it becomes over a certain coverage area. So what do we do? lol well im working on somthing at the moment it has nothing to do with nasa or any fridge lol but ill keep u posted on the idea, i think personally 7000lm out of a 59000lm bulb is pathetic by any ohp manufactured and reminding us that ohp's are not designed for lcd's with a high loss they are designed for a clear sheet with text so they are not optimum for what we use it for in our case, however we can get them optimum and thats what im working on. Any way ill keep u guys posted
