Sorry auldthief,
My PJ build is temporarily stopped due to the fact that I am shifting to my new apartment by tomorrow. After that I will be on vacation for the next two weeks. So I wont be able to continue till I settle there. Also I am planning to do it along with my wood work in the apartment, so that i dont have to worry about the carpentry work. Anyways I will definitely post the pics of my PJ progress.

Started my build!!! 🙂
Finally!
Now there's no turning back. I went to lamington rd and the benQ T52WA was selling for 6200 Rs. Got tempted to buy it and take it apart but as this is my first build, i thought let's play safe and save some money for contingency plan!So i bought
1. 9.8" SUPER TFT LCD for 4200 rs ("SUPPORTS" 1024x 768 ) I found the text to be a little blurred, even with cleartype). NO HD FOR THIS BABY! 🙁
2.Ordered Fresnel lenses from ebay
stationeryworld
133 x 2 = 266 rs
3.projection triplet from lensel Pune 1249rs including shipping to mumbai
4 lamps ---- need your help here ---
i saw 2 types of sets (lamp+ballast+reflector) in a electrical shop in Lamongton rd. One was 400 W MH lamp but as it was a built up kit (Floodlight ready to hang in your marriage pandal, just plug and play!!!) it was very bulky and much larger than my LCD (almost twice the size)
The other was 150 W but it was not as bright (light was barely noticable in tubelight of the shop). I asked if there was something in between, say 250 W but he said no. I think I should go with the bulky 400W light and do good cooling and make sure there are no light leaks. But if I just fix the assembly as it is, the projector will get really bulky and ugly. But as it is already built up, all I have to do is put the LCD in front of it along with the fresnels and triplet in line. THat way I dont have to bother with mounting the lamp inside a box. I can just fix the floodlight at one end of the box add a fan on the side of the LCD and fresnels, as shown in figure.
So please suggest me good lamp installation method.
2. Also, how do you make a PC cabinet fan run via mains??? 😕
Thanks for reading through! 🙂

You can try 150 W Metal halide and people have used it. Check out post #1, #303 is this thread.
Even 250W lamps are available. Check out post #452 in this thread.
You will need DC to run the computer fans (12V i think). You can buy an adaptor and fix it into the box. I feel the 400W will generate a lot of heat and will need very powerful cooling. Big fan, big box...In that case you can purchase small exhaust fans that run on AC itself.
Keep it going and let us know of the progress.
Wish you the best.

Hi,
I bought a 250 Watts single end bulb (osram) for 900/-
If you can get a double end 250 watts, its better, as it's smaller in size and have a smaller arc size..
I got a 250 watts local brand Ballast for 675/-
better brands are available for 1000/-
go with 150 watts only if it's a double end bulb (normally 150 watts are double ended type)

Hello Pramod,
Thank u vy much for the kind and immediate response. See, me only a beginer. I am frm Wayanad.
I cud project a dull image on the wall usning a 4 inch car color monitor with out any alteration. The lense is doublet, procured from one of my friend who is running a studio.
Picture is fully focused and clear, no bluring at the edges, but it lacks brightness and contrast.
I was searching for Benq 15 inch T52WA. But not available in wayanad. Samsung and Philips are there in plenty.
So pse let me knw abt ur setup. I wud also like to knw abt ur whereabouts, so that I can hv some help frm u , if u dont mind.

What is the capacity of the light you are using ,150,250w and can you brief me some more info about your setup like the distance between Triplet-lens-LCD-Lens-Light
Also one info i would like to share with everybody who are planning to use BenQ T52WA
BenQ T52WA LCD ,the screen size for this is 332.16 x 186.84 (mm) and the the normal 15 inch LCDs are 304.1x228.1 ,so the S15 lens kits are 319mm x 252.4mm which are available at Lumenlab would not work with the BenQ model ,you need to go for pro lens kit which are bigger in size

Pramodh,
Sorry for not giving details abt my setup. See, I am still in the first stage.
My LCD is not stretchable. There are flat cables connected from PCB with three sides of the panel. So this LCD is not suitable for the purpose.
I was mentioning that, it is merely with the LCD itself. No external light. That is why I am looking for some other stretchable LCD.
Ok abt Benq and lenses. Thanks for the info. I will look into that.
which r the other brands and models suitable for our work?

Pramodh,
Pse clarify. The Benq LCD measurement u hv given is widh and height in mm. But the lense mesurement is focal length.
Then why u say , this lense setup is not suitable for that LCD? If anything wrong in my question, pse make it clear.

Tempered glass is all around guys just use your imagination, all microwave ovens, all cheap OTGs,all halogen light enclosures, have tempered glass on the front you can also find it from suppliers of stage and lighting goods shops. in worst case scenario a simple sheet of float glass will work fine as long as the HOT and COOL areas are totally separated, as in my design. the objective is to keep the heat away from the LCD.
Thanks for the info budhi ,i would try adding a normal glass and check if the heat is controlled
Anand
if you are looking at just experiment then you can go for any brand like Super brand ,people have used it successfully with good image
But if you want high quality image then you can go for 15" Samsung LCD monitors ,i have used a old dell laptop D600 which was lying around which is an XGA LCD(1024 x 768) and the primarily image is very good
I am still tweaking the parts to get around some issues ,would post some pictures
