What if you were to place a mirror or 3m reflective film directly behind a projection panel or lcd??? So instead of a backlight or ohp, you would have a mirror that would reflect light back through the lcd, and them focus that light through the projection lens.

I guess thas wot a reflective LCD would do. No backlight....instead its got a mirror behind it - so basically reflects da picture.

Not using an LCD tho but a PC monitor.

Ok - here's wot im doin

1) Turned da monitor on its back so that da screen is facing da cieling.
2) Start Media Player
3) Now block rest of da screen with a cardboard or sumthin with just an opening for da media player screen.
4) Mirror on da top mounted @45 degrees.
5) External light source - using 100 watt ordinary bulb @da moment.

sorry Im bad at drawing....but i hope u get wot im talkin here.

Now Im getting an excellent picture(minus da light) but its dull.
But as soon as I turn da lights on - it glares out da picture completely and i see nuthin.

So there is a picture sitting on my pc....
I got da logic in place to throw a nice n big picture on da wall...
But still sumthings amiss...

Maybe Im doing sumthing wrong here?

Cheers!

WoW....almost 250 views and not a single post?

C'mon guys...looking for some headaway here.

I'm thinking of trying out 2 way mirror and passing the light source thru it.

Anyone used mirrors or can share some links on em?

thanks and cheers!

no reply...

A quick look shows me at least 2 members have answered you....

I dont know anyone who has done this, I thought to give it a try when I got interested in DIY but theorized that the glare on the source would wash out the image.
Good luck with it 😉

Thanks zardoz!

Atleast someone replied....lol

Da way I look @it - hard part is getting a picture which is already there on my monitor.

Now wot i do with that picture shud be da simple part.

Just think abt it 😛

Anyone knows a thing abt mirrors?

Im thinking of reflecting da image off da mirror and a powerful light source behind it.

Are there such 2 way mirrors available?

So basically 1 side shud reflect light and the other shud be transperant to let light pass thru.

Maybe its a stupid thot....but then again all great ideas r nothin but a combination of many stupid thots.....so guys pls start posting ur thots on this n who knows we'll might just have a winner....maybe.

Cheers!

a powerful light behind a monitor? have you ever seen a light source behind a CRT? if your monitor is a flat screen then you should take it apart and do it **ITS RISKY** two lights will cancel each other out, if you put a brighter source behind/on/through you CRT i belive you will fail. I tried soemthing similiar with my TV projector and it blocked the pictured. well about using mirrors if you want to use mirrors i suggest getting a front surface mirror.
If you want BETTER and MORE info go to http://groups.msn.com/diyprojectiontv MFUZ has a nice TV projector and the BEST pix of it i've seen so far, has her.

i still think OHP/LCD method is BETTER than the crappy tv projector.

Good luck
