Very frustrating , I am sure my old PC running windows 10 had a native driver for the CM6631A USB card . Device is not recognised , cable checked and it works fine on my old PC Can anyone offer some advice as how to proceed as I am having issues attempting to find a suitable driver online , assuming I need to install a driver

No , the PC does not recognise the device , I do not see this in device manager . I have tracked down the 10.1.12.9 CMedia files , as per the old PC , downloaded and still not working , in fact now the pc will not complete booting up with the USB dac attached
Oh, it not being recognized at all and the PC failing to boot with it plugged in would point away from driver issues. This could be an issue with the USB controller or Hardware Failure. If there is a short on the USB connection the PC will not boot.
Do you still have your old PC or another PC you can try this DAC on? Have you tried different USB ports (esp. switching from 2.0 to 3.0 or vise versa)?
You may also try updating your PCs BIOS and enabling "legacy usb support" in the BIOS/UEFI if that option is available.

Cable already replaced , original cable works fine on the USB DAC in the kitchen . CM6631A dac works fine on the old pc . Not a nshort , power lamp lit on USB card
That means power is getting there. But says nothing about the data lines being possibly shorted.
Do other USB devices work when connected to the same port?

OK , I will repeat . DAC and cable works on the old PC . No problem with the cable , no shorts .! I have driver issues , I cannot get the driver to work . This is not a cable issue...
If you had a driver issue then the dac would show up as an unknown device. This is something else. It might draw too much power from the port. Try connecting it via a powered hub.
Does any other device work on your USB ports, USB stick for example?
Usually motherboard have 2 or more USB controlers. Might be that you have separate usb 2.0 and usb3.0+ controller. Try locating 2.0. Usually color coded. Ones with blue plastic inside socket are 3.0.
Also did you try plug in cm66 while device manager is open? To see if it refresh right after plug in/plug out.
In device manager also select 'show hidden'

No issue with the cable , the dac works on the old pc , no problem with usb power , have tried a USB tester and get 5.08V on load with the dac attached . I can plug my phone in and view files so not a usb port issue on the pc What I need to find is a suitable driver , nothing on the CMedia website .
What good is a driver when the computer doesn't even detect that the DAC is connected?
Did you try with a hub or a different port?
