new opt for s5 k16ls?

just picked up a k-16 kit from s5 electronics and im wondering if some hammond trafos wouldnt contribute alot towards the sound. is this worth the 80-90 dollars for a 240 dollar amp kit? im new to this site and to tubes so any info will help

Some Bigger/Better iron certainly couldn't hurt.
Hammond and Edcor might be good places to start.

Edcor opt

I have the Edcor opt in my kit and the improvement is about ten percent. For the money, the best improvement to date was the upgraded Ruby Gold caps mentioned in other threads. The caps were around twenty five dollars verses one hundred for the opt. With the total in mods and kit I am at around five hundred. This kit has been a ton of fun and very educational.
