ME2 in Open Baffle

i'm sorry to original poster to get a bit off topic here, but i think its before for the forum if i did not start another new thread.

just a quick question for mr. olsen, would the me2 work in an open baffle?

thanks for your time.

no probs 🙂 the more i read the more interested i get 🙂

decided to keep two boxes now but just change them so that all conns are on the rear rather than inputs on the front and o/p on the rear. they look quite cool sitting next to each other on the rack. i'll dress them up a bit with a fancy fascia once i have looked into it. i also then need to replace the very slim speaker wire the builder has used and hard wired into the c/o fo rmuch longer lengths. wish i knew what he had used as its very unintrusive and i would use it again.

I am not Lynn. However I can answer.

The Short answer is no. 🙂

Here are the issues in no particular order.
6 db hump in the mid-base from dipole reinforcement
Small radiating area of woofers and small xmax.
What baffle width would be optimum (and what might we want to optimise anyway)

Your choices are adding a 15" woofer, making it a 3 way (and invalidating the xo) or going active on the bottom.

Any way you cut it, by the time you are done, its a very different speaker, and bears almost no resemblance to an ME2.

YMMV.

Doug

thawach,

they look great, how do you find they soudn comapred to your Living Voices? i have sort of decided to quit my project as i am unsure of the end result and i think they are too large but i am interested to see how they compare with the LV's...as these are one of my potential purchases.(i am considering the Audtoriums rather than the more expensive models)
