Hey everyone looking to make a solid car setup.

Sound processing
1 JVC KD-R320 Head Unit
2 Clarion EQS746 1/2 DIN Graphic Equalizer with Built-in Crossover

Speakers
3 Four Pyramid TW18BK Horn Tweeters in a sealed box
4 Four Cadence 8ohm Midbass Still looking for enclosure
5 One Kicker L7 15" 2004 Dual 4 Ohm Sub in a kicker manual recommended S15L7-BOX-VENTED-600 6.0cf 30Hz ported box

Amps
6 Legacy American Legacy II LA290 4-Channel Tweeter Amp
7 VS-1598 Midrange Amp
8 Hifonics HFi1500 Hfi Series D-Class Mono Bass Amp


Any suggestions? I already have items 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7. Now ordering the rest.

From what I've seen of Pyramid products, they about as trustworthy as stuff you buy from a guy in a white rental van in a parking lot. Like the amp wiring kit that contained an "8 gauge" power cable that was more like 18 with an extra-thick jacket.

The first thing i would say, what kind of sound do you want to get?

I have a similar, complex setup, and trust me, it worked well for some time, very loud and clear, but after some time it was more like a "nightmare", noises here and there, very difficult to pinpoint when there was a problem, and trust me, i installed every wire on that system?

I would prefer a very simple setup. One amp for mids, one for bass (it will be better to have a 5 channel amp, but that would cost you some extra money), four speakers and the subwoofer.


Now there is no problem if you want all that system running in your car, but you should have a very solid electrical connections and wiring, preferably 4 awg or something bigger, trust me, you can use that setup for some time, especially if you are with bigger and powerful amps. I`m running an USamps XT2000D at 1 ohm an a Kicker kx500.2 and they work well.

Of course its only my opinion, i could be wrong.

For pyramid amps, i had one like ten years ago, it worked for some time, blew two outputs, still worked the other two, one day blew everything. It was running a pair of 6x9. The best use for that amp was using the heatsink for other electrical projects.

I get what you're saying. Simple is always the way to go. But right now I'm on a tight budget since I'm now finishing Uni and only doing some part time jobs. What I'm looking for is a solid sounding system to be played at medium to high levels without much distortion on a budget and still use the stuff I already have. I know the 5.1 thing is pretty cool and high fidelity since i have a Logitech surround sound system and that works really good.

To sum it up I'm really looking for a solid balanced sound that would play quite ambient for like a party of just to enjoy music loud. I'm kinda deep into the Dj thing so it'll fit in there.

I know where are you going. Let me explain how is my system installed.

HU:Sony RA650
Digital Bass Driver: Soundstream BX12
Parametric EQ: Soundstream 5XO
Amp for mids: Kicker KX500.2
Mids:4 alpine oval speakers.
Amp for subs: USamps XT2000D
Subs:4 Sony XS series.

Its not very different than yours. I am going to tell you that in first place, its very complex to set up the gains in both amplifiers, set aside the crossover points. If one of the components its not installed properly, at least, it will cause tremendous amounts of undersired noise. You have plans to install 3 amplifiers, well, i recommend to your to set the gains with a multimeter or a test tone cd. Proper procedure its on the net.

Another important thing i see, it is that you are going to use a graphic equalizer. Trust me, these are very useful tools at first, but with the time you will find that you rarely need to adjust te Eq, that is because the speaker placement its far more important than setting a higher gain in a given frecuency.

I`ll say that you can achieve a fairly good sound, only you need a solid installation, beefing up audio electric wire (and maybe battery, your are gouing to put a lot of strain in it and in your car`s alternator) like i said before and take your time setting up the amplifier and the speakers. You will not regret from that and you will have a reliable system.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm considering the switch to one mid amp and a parametric eq. I could safely trade my graphic eq for one like yours, but whats the major benefits?

Also could i use the American pro amp alone for mids & highs - that would be 8 8ohm speakers to a 2 channel 4ohm amp? Or what would be a good mid and high simple setup?
