New Look for Ed's ARdiys!!!(PICs)

I recently made these from Ed's ARdiy design. I designed the cabinet with the required volume for Ed's design. The cabs are made with laminated 'wishbones' cut from 1" mdf and the baffle is a flat piece of 1" mdf with the speakers recessed (Peerless). They are rear ported and terminal connections are recessed into the bottom (brass bolts with knurled nut). I also designed the stands to intergrate with the look of the speaker. The speakers are finished in a black lacquer. They need another couple coats; color sanded and then given a high polish to give that piano finish look.
I've built quite a few of Ed's speaker design and can only say they sound exceedingly good! All the reviews speak highly of Ed Frias's (EFE) speakers. I give them an enthusiastic two thumbs up!
You can view the pics of these speakers here:

Anyone Want to Build a EFE DIY Pair for Me?

Woudl anyone that has build a pair of the Ed Frias DIY kit be interested in building another pair for me?

I saw the pics of the pair made by MCH that are painted glossy black and they look great.

If anyone is interested, especially MCH, please e-mail me at jdanziger@austin.rr.com

Thanks alot guys.

You might contact Steven Browne. He is in your nck of the woods & does that sort of thing.

MCH,

I like your non-rectangular enclosure design. That seems like a great speaker design for the money. I have been looking for a low cost design to build for family members. This one might be a good candidate.

Is the volume on your box ~11 liters?
What is the port length and diameter?

Gabe

Yes the volume is about that. I used the formula noted in the above post. Port is 2" x 6" as specified in Ed's design.
I have built these speakers in the regular box design and also in a narrow long box (using as center channel and hangs above tv; avoiding magnetic problems of picture tube). I've compared test tones on these different designs and the timbre matches to the original box design as stipulated by Ed. The key I believe is in keeping the correct specified volume.
I had a lot of fun building this particular design. Definitely more work. But that's the challenge. The black piano finish is the hardest part to achieve. In spring I'll spray another set of coats of lacquer and do the final color sand and polish.
I'm currently building 6 more, the regular box, and 6 greek classical pedestal column stands. These are being finished in all white. My brother wanted the classical look. This is for a 6 channel surround system. I'm also doing a sealed Octagon Tempest in white to complete the package.
