well i want to make a speaker that has a mtm setup but has a woofer on the side powered by a plate amp i want to use the 10" sub for partsexpress ULTIMATE PS10 10" PLATINUM SUBWOOFER
the DAVIS 100CKW8DF 4" KEVLAR/CARBON MIDBASS for mids and maybe if you guys even think that i should use tweets then i am open to ideas for that the enclosuer that i have in mind is 45"tall 8"wide and 12" deep then there will be one or two smaller enclosuers for the mids one or two depending on what you think or if you think i should even seperate them but i want the speaker to look like a solid floorstanding speaker. i would really like as much input and ideas as posible i want to get the ball rolling on these as fast as posible thanks alot ppl your the best

I am not sure what you mean by mtm. Often it means a so-called dÁppolito arrangement where the mid/tweeter is phisically as close as possible between the two woofers. This arrangement is said to give excellent dispersion and stable soundfield. In such a case side-firing woofer(s) is not an option.

Jan, I think that hotcalr456 wants to do the Appolito with a tweeter between two mids. If this is the case than he could add a woofer in the same cabinet. Provided the mids go down reasonably far side firing should be feasible.

If the mids go down far enough (100Hz?), then the woofers could also be in separate subs cabinets. This could make room placement easier.

yes i want there to be mid tweet mid facing front and then the woofer out to the side it will be all in the same cabinet but the mids will be in there own enclosuer if you guys think that it will work like that but the mids go from like 60 to 3000 hz sub is 30 to 600 hz and tweett go from 2000 to 25000hz what do u think if you still dont know what im talking about then i can send you a drawing because i can not put one on here because it is to big but if you want me to send you one then tell me and leave me your email addresss and i will be happy to osend you one

Re: answers

I think we can tell what you're talking about and it sounds ok if you can get the crossovers right. So you're thinking of crossing over between woofer and mids at around 200Hz and mids to tweeter at around 2,500Hz? It would be good if your mid could go up to, say, 5,000 or 6,000Hz so you could take the crossover out of the midband (where the hearing is most sensitive).

BTW, even if they're in the same overall enclosure, the mids would have to be sealed from the woofers.

Don't take this personally, but when you refuse to use even basic capitalization and punctuation, your posts are difficult to understand at best and headache-inducing at worst.

Given that you are asking others for advice you might want to aim a tad higher, gramatically speaking.

Sorry about that

Sorry I started the thread last night at like 3 am and Im just lazy. But I will try to do better because you are helping me out and now I feel bad. So getting that over with the amp that I am buying for the subs has a filter already for the low and high so it says this is the one that im going to buy, also the mids will be in there own little boxes. And how do I go about finding what size port or if I should even use one I don’t know. I really have tried to read as much as I could about this stuff but it just went right over my head, maybe it was the advanced stuff so if you could tell me what you think about the info I just put up that would be great thanks and sorry again.

wiring

OK, now i have a few questions about what i should do about wiring these things. First off i want to use a plate amp on each of the speakers to power the subs, now should i just spit the sub out on my receiver to each of the 2 amps and then send the speaker out the the binding post. well that is all for now thanks again
