It was always my opionion that SMDs would be better since they don't have lead out wires (ie a transition to another metal).

Don't SMD resistors have metal end tabs to solder to, and these are attached to the resistive element? This is pretty similar to a through hole part. Of course, since there is no real length to the metal tab, inductance is negligable in comparison to through hole.

Nelson, can you elaborate on which SMD resistors you use? We all know that there are better and worse through lead resistors as far as sound quality (even though you use run of the mill stuff 😀 RN60 I believe?), but what about SMD? Any particular brands?
