Dear Fellow DIYers,
Since ive started to suppy the TA2024 PCB's ive been thinking of the " perfect " TA2024 PCB.
Since my supply of PCB's is not everlasting ( i bought a exess lot )
i would like to design a new PCB together with the help of my good frind Cristy, here in Shenzhen.
Ofcource, i dont want to end up with a product that costs 100 Euro per PCB, High end is nice, but it should be a resonably priced PCB, without design errors and with the features that are in demand.
There fore i would like to ask all of you DIY'es on this planet to tell me what features you would like to see on this new PCB.
just tell me what you would like, i will concidder the cost/performance ratio and im aiming at 10 or 12 euro per PCB sales price.
The final price depends on the amount of features we put on the board and also mainly on the QTY ordered. the more people sign up and show interest the better. things are only cheap in china if you can order 1000 pieces, so this is my goal.
so far, i and you guy's have come up with these features:
- More space for buffer caps?
- Thru hole parts ?
- Intergrated voltage controller? ( for use with 12 to 35~40 volts)
- Ticker copper
- Gold plating for the PCB
- offset trimmer
- thicker leads for the output
- metal source and feedback resistors (or through hole to do yourself)
- no flaws in the circuit : )
- better input terminal
- low price
- Buffer for the input signal
Please feel free to add your wish and at the end of the next month i want to see what i can offer for how much money.
Greetings, and thanks in advance for your input!

My 5 cents:
Keep it as simple as possible, no buffer, no regulators just a optimum layout for the chip. you can always add all of that stuff on other boards latter but you can never take it away.
no imput caps would be nice to (like on the "Charlize")

What's the "no flaws in the circuit" thing all about?
Haven't received my boards yet, but as a newbie I'm interested in everyone's advice about how they can be improved with mods etc.

Arjen's first batch had a (tiny) glitch in the pcb layout that Arjen corrected before dispatch. No real room for improvement there, I fear.
The boards are good though. Fun to play with and great value for money.
I still have them on the test bench only so no real hardcore comparison possible. But I trust they do as well as the sure boards.

New design TA2024
I think i want to keep it simple, and basic.
A new PCB with basic functions and functionality, small in size and with DC offset control, 2 connectors for extra buffer cap adding a better groundplane for cooling and all grade A components.
When im done with this first design ill show it to the public here.
The TDA8920 is now totally finished and i like the results! this is now also availalble.

Re: New design TA2024
Dear Arjen,
Keeping it 'simple' would be the best way! 😉
DC offset control especially will be most welcome.
All your below proposal is very much agreeable.
Don't forget to leave some room for some 'tweaking' 😀
Am looking forward to your first design.
I am not familiar with the TDA8920. Care to shed some light?
Thank you.
Greetings from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
Jazzy.

I've just been playing with the Sure board, and though I dont want to go bananas over it, seperate power lines for each of the power inputs (ie VDD1 VDD2) might be worth designing in there..
Justblair,
Hmmm I might give this a shot too.. 😉
I do not expect any surprises.. but hey you never know.. hehe 😛

I didn't expect suprises, but was definately suprised.
Made more difference than a powerline cap swap on th sure boards.
One or two others have also tried the mod and are reporting good resuilts.
Give it a go!

Hi Arjen,
For the ta2022, I found putting a nice e-cap very close to the 5V (no ceramics here) will improve the bass and overall sonics, as the 5v is also for the internal opamp.
Not sure about the the ta2024, but it looks this tweak might work as well.
Any idea where to found good toroid core in SZ?

the design is really good.. will write a review on it soon...
