New compact workbench for amp repair

Yup, it's irrelevant how big your bench starts out, it can be huge - doesn't matter, you will end up with only enough space for a small PCB - it just is always that way.

It's like you know me! I've had benches since I was around 8 years old continuously. A clean bench is a sign of a sick mind. 🙂

But if you start from something really compact then you have to finish what you begun... 500 euro including the modified IKEA bookcase. Not for professional use but great for stealth diy! If the DUT is large I have to lend my chair.😀

Another update! My 6-year old son has grown fond of watching me repair Amps! He loves to tinker and so I built him a similar style bench only 70% the size. Gave him a 10A power supply, my spare tektronics 465B, found a Klein clamp meter at a flea market. It’s all on a Dial timer so he can play and the bench always shuts down if he walks away.

We’re going to be building a Nelson Pass Amp Camp Amp together very soon! He’s been asking me every day, when will it arrive! We’re waiting on the Chassis from Italy now. We’ll be using Klipsh M51 bookshelf speakers on it.

I’m going to teach him to solder with me soon.

For sure it's great to start them young. No offense, but at 6 he isn't going to really get much.

What the heck, let him play. I think soldering now will just lead to a few burns, but that's up to you. I would have waited until age 8 to 10 depending.
