NEW CDP or DAC?

Hi All

I am thinking of upgrading my CDPs, as I have upgraded speakers and amp recently.

Would it be better to go for high end stand alone CDP, or would it be better to go for DAC adding it to existing CDP?

I have about 5 CDPs, but they are all kinda budget or old stuff. Although they all sound OK, by upgrading, I am just curious to see what difference it might bring.

I mainly listen to Blues(Eric Clapton, Jimmi Hendrix..), Classic Rock(Led Zepps, Black Crow, Pink Floyd, Black Sabath, Leyanard Skinard, Bad Company, Steely Dan...) and Funky Jazz(Wayne Krantz) stuff.

Hi,

you should have told more about your old CDPs. Otherwise it is not possible to suggest a "supposed" better one.
What is the price range?
Anyway, if you own a CDP with a good solid mechanism you can go for a DAC. There is much room for improvement and if you like to experiment you can achieve great success just tweaking the SPDIF line for example.
Just read some of the interesting stuff here in the "DIGITAL" corner. There is lots of inspiration
