Check the resistance with an ohm meter. Zero reading means open. A good coil should showed some resistance.

A "zero" reading would indicate a dead short. What you actually meant was it will read "open" or infinity.🙂

If you are getting a reading of 0,5 Ohms that tells you that there isn't gross failure. But it's quite possible that the inductance of the coil is wrong for example from some of the windings being shorted.
You probably won't resolve the problem unless you explain the symptoms that lead you to believe that the cross-over is malfunctioning, and why you think that the problem might be the coil.
