new build and sound issues

Hi all,
i'm new here, i'm from france and newbie in diy.
I have start to convert an old radio (1954) to modern electronic.
This is my setup and the problem:
two driver Visaton FRS8M in a 2.7L volume(closed), amp is a Sure AA-AB32165 2x25w at 6 ohms powered by a 19v supply.
Problem is sound is very bad, no bass and very agressive medium.
Project is just for listening music in the kitchen, no need more power or big bass but the sound must be correct.
If anyone have ideas ? thank very much.

OMG !
I did something similar 1 1/2 year ago
I did put simply the 2 speakers ( well, I did change them, of course !) and the ( little : 4-5" diameter ) subwoofer of a 2.1 system. 1+1+3 W works flawlessly from that time. I don't mess with class D but that could be the cause of the problem.
What I see is:

A too long cable connecting PSU and amplifier: 20 cm long is better - also the plug -eliminate if you don't need it ( disclaimer : big problems arousing if messing with the PCB traces !! )
PSU - linear or SMPS, probably it isn't the cause 😕

Speakers: What a mess !

Why not divide the box in 3 parts and put the 2 speakers on the sides ?
You would only to cut 4 panels for making two "L's"
Not as deep as the enclosure...
(I made mine with the two speakers suspended at the sides, inside, and the sub taking the rest of the space : an old metal grid very stilish covered them )

You can reuse that box: put the radio into it !

Or better : divide and make from it two boxes, and place them at the sides. Try also with open back ! Put some sound absorber ( compressed cloth waste ? ) around, all the surfaces, also the back panel that the speaker " sees" . So, do not compress or even place any fluffy sound absorber in the nearby of the speaker ( magnet...)

Some might like to have the speakers partially isolated from/to vibrations : instead of attaching the box inside the box , put something like 1/2 cm butyl or anything ...and glue all the perimeter.
I like to have them mounted with rubber bands ...!

thank for reply.
Power supply is from notebook, 19v - 8,7A
ok for cable lenght, i can cut and go without connector.

I will rebuild two box but i can't go at the side because there are lights that i want to keep.
this is original radio:

uuhh, I see.
8.7 A is over...kill !!
If you have any at your disposition, I would try a linear power supply.
I mean, you've got to find what's wrong so start by putting *perfect* elements in the *chain*. Maybe, it's the whole 🙄😱:innocent:

About the speakers, I see the grill contains also the "magic eye" hole. That's what it stops you from "angling" the speakers, but, hey, you can put them outside. Or better, put a new grill cloth and make space for speakers.
Still it is better if you decouple them ( the boxes) from the chassis .
Inside that box you can fit a subwoofer.
:birthday:

Also the radio needs to be tested with other components.

So there are Source- PSU- Cables - Amplifier -( cables)- Speakers to check

On the first design approach I would try closing in the areas surrounding the baffle. It seems likely sound would be rolling off and bouncing around inside the larger cavity. That or try using something like a fibre glass pink insulation to absorb waves back there.

I seen new design, same suggestion applies. If it sounds to your liking it may further enhance favorably.
