Due to the nature of the project, the budget is quite high. The enclosure alone will run into several thousand dollars. The speakers are indeed quite small and would be suitable for a bookshelf or desktops. There is a variation of the design that at some future date will be 3-way.

for such an expensive enclosure i would definitely not go with cheap drivers.
I would buy several different drivers, mount them in test enclosures to measure, tweak, optimize and listen to them.
i suppose you will be adding a big woofer for low end? this absolutely makes sense and, if you accept lack of bass capability for the 2-way, would give you more options for dedicated (low-)midrange drivers.at some future date will be 3-way
