I believe there was a recent discussion on the Anteks. The frequency response on the lower powered offerings looks good, but the higher powered ones are lacking at the top end. The -3 dB point for the 40W OT is at 10 kHz. From an aesthetics standpoint, I prefer the look of a traditional OT.

Soundblaster,

Several of the folks building Baby Huey amps have used Toroidy output transformers, and no one had any complaints about them on the thread, while several noted satisfaction with them. Member Bfpca measured the Toroidy TTG EL34PP (50 watts, with 6.6k primary) and found it flat from 20Hz past audibility, with a +1dB peak at 200k Hz. Read about it here:

Freddi,

Not sure I got the question - which transformer? Re. buying and shipping Toroidy, I bought several Toroidy transformers from TME in Poland and received every order within 5 working days at my home in Illinois, USA. Shipping is a very reasonable $9.90 per 5 kg package (if you need a pair of the larger ones over 2.5 kg each, then buy two separately, one per package). I have no connection, just a happy customer.

whats the approximate DCR of the 10W HF transformer's primary? How much is their shipping vs Edcor ?

For that pair that I have, the measured DCRs of the primaries are 173 and 173.1 ohm.

Although they are a bit more expensive than the Escort GXSEs, the shipping was only $8.95 for the pair to North Carolina. Edcor's shipping was over $20. Including shipping, the MPS transformers were cheaper for me.

Thank you so much, very useful!
Do you know if TME have those pretty premium transformers with the shielding? I cant find those for some reason.

I built a "spud" amp based on the 6T9 tube with the pair of the 5K OTs. (2.7W output @ 1 kHz) Here's the frequency response graph:

I got a pair of 7K OTs for another spud. (1.7W output @ 1 kHz) Here's the FR graph:

They sound pretty good.
