I found this product when searching for air motion tweeters on Alibaba. It looks awfully similar to the BG Neo8, but is apparently a new AMT design. The specs say it's useful down to about 300 Hz which sounds great. I got a price quote of $65 for a single unit which isn't bad (but unfortunately the shipping is $75 to Sweden). Is it a new driver, and if so, has anyone got some comments about/experience with it?
im afraid its a normal planar, still pretty decent for that price. (but photo's of the inside would reveal allot)
It looks like they make AMT's, but this is probably not one of them. What, at first glance, seems to be a pleated diaphragm looks more like printed tracks on closer inspection. The curving of the tracks visible through the lowest level of slots tends to confirm this.
The idea of slots in the verical plane is wrong for an AMT, so the product is being mis-described.

Thanks, makes sense. Seems to be basically a copy of the BG Neo8S. Confusing that they describe it as "air motion transformer/technology" though.
I did some measurements on such a chinese Neo8 copy. They really suck!
hmm how do they suck ? something as simple as a neo... im sure they just copied there layout 1:1 making some metal buying so,me neo's
i cant do it but if you do have a Punching machine ... what can go wrong 🙂
Thanks for the graphs. I contacted the seller and they admit it's not an AMT. I guess you get what you pay for 🙂
I think you can buy these things via Strassacker in Germany (look at Audiopur MAG20M) for 54 euro's. The datasheet has some more information. Distortion below 2.5k is quite high. Probably not really usable as a midrange unit.
