dj, it may be easier to simulate the amp before actually building one. That way, you can use "virtual" probes to understand why a particular design doesn't work.

planning any new amplifier is not easy. I planned lot of them but sometimes it takes one week to build stable, and well working amplifier.
I think, if count the price of all the devices I destroyed during my life
I can order new flat for my family...
If You have no too much experience to plan new amplifier just get one useful schematic, and enjoy it! You can avoid lot of head-ache
