Well, due to moving house and not having a workshop, progress has been slow. Pleased to advise that the project is now complete. Pics below. Not sure how it sounds, as my son will not be here till the weekend with his guitar.
Having difficulty posting image links that work. First set is thumbnails, but wont expand in my browser, so second set of links is to the image shack...
Cheers

Looks nice. What's inside? What amp design and speaker is that?
Be sure and post some audio clips what you get a chance.

Nice Project.
The only comment that I would have is that the valves should be on display.......yes?

And then what happens to them when the amp is put in the van with keyboard cases and other equipment thrown on top of it. What if it's raining when the gear is being unloaded?
Music instrument amps are always built tough You have to expect that people will set drinks on them and spill beer bottles on them. They will be carted up/down stairs on refer dollys, used as chairs and step stools and otherwise physically abused.
And then there are practical issues. With the chassis up and tubes down the controls are easier to reach because they are higher up.
Yes very nice.
I like the speaker grill maybe I should try to find one foe my 8 inch Weber instead of using grill cloth.
Rolf.

The 6V6s are just Soviet equivalents I got cheap on ebay. I used the grille and paint so I did not have to make a frame for cloth or bother with tolex. Maybe next time?

you are going to love this. My son and I built a Champ clone. I found a SS Champ on craigslist, pulled the SS board, punched some holes for octal sockets and had him wire it up.
Great project and he built it. I spent less than $50 (including SS Champ) and he has a combo he can take to his friends.
Have fun with your son.
