I'm keeping an eye on raspberry pi. It'll be cheaper and more powerful than hacking a router, when it's finally released. It'd make an awesome little music server coupled with an external hdd and a usb dac.
And it'd make an awesome little FullHD video player at the same time
Hopefully the previews will make it to production.

Indeed, although its only thanks to the gpu that HD decoding can take place, and its limited to h264. It'll be nice to see whether it is robust enough to handle any h264 thrown at it or not. I still rely on xvid stuff a fair bit though anyway, so I think the raspi in my home will just be an mpd / mpc and torrent server.
I'll reconsider if they ever get xbmc ported to it. Time will tell.
I know this is an old thread, but I am very happy with my old Raspberry Pi 512 running Volumio (RaspyFi as was). https://volumio.org/
A relatively limited number of stations, but when my little DAC arrives, the quality of those stations will be immense

Well, if you like Volumio and it's limited stations then try Moode and discover many more along with a smoother and better featured implementation..

I am trying out a whole bunch of different setups - Moode is now on the list.
Thanks.
EDIT: I don't have a model B... I don't think... I need to check
