neons anyone?

I have a bunch of neons (in car not undercar) that i am trying to sell. They are almost every size(4",10",15"). Mainly the color red but have some others. The 15" strobes/dances to music, the 10" dances to music, and all of them can be set to just solid lights. I also have a couple 1-into-4 adapters for them. Leave me a message if your interested.

I have seen LED "neons" available, and I must see if making my own would be cheaper (almost certainly would).

I was thinking of making them with standard LEDs, but I couldnt think how to mount them. I wonder if 5mm LEDs on PCB strips would be ok in tubing...

How directional are the SMT LEDs?
 
from the specs that I read on the internet, they have about 120° viewing angle. seems like it. the lights are mounted under the stepboards and under the licence plates (and the light reaches well under the car and the sidewalk). I've seen ones that use those standard 5mm LED's but the light is more concentrated to little round circles on the road. (I'd prefer SMT as the light blends seamlessly even if each are separated up to 6 inches per group)


I also used a homebrew regulated switching boost converter that powers everything on 15-16V dc


all the 210 LEDs consume less power than a single 20 watt bulb. (including the powersupply with 80% efficiency)
