I got the switcher now and connected it to an electronic load and oscilloscope. From 0 to ~130mA (spec. max. 80mA) the voltage fluctuates roughly from 13.5V to 12V. The voltage shows quite large ripple as expected, though I didn't use any caps etc.
Of course some bulky 50Hz trafo + LDOs would give nice output but that would be too easy 🙂. So I think I will still stick with this SMPS + filtering to achieve good results.
