SET amp 211 driver 845 power.
211- General Electric (NOS)
845 - GD 845 Graphite :
Tube-Shop.com - Vacuum Tubes for Hi-Fi, Guitar and Radio amplifiers
I'd like to upgrade them ,
Don't have the budget for NOS 845 as prices become really insane...
I read some of PSVANE are good but not sure better than the Golden Draggon i have..
Can some1 recommend on 845 tube from current production in reasonable budget?

Do mod your amp to GM70 tubes and youre out of the expensive tube nirvana.
One tube would not make for the quality of the whole amp, its the concept behind it and the quality of its realization.
Often people fall in love with one output tube type but what they forgot is, thats only one part of the whole game. It may be a good circuit with excellent parts that makes the output tube shine, but another circuit can make a bread and butter tube shine nearly the same.So its much about the excellence of the designer of the amp and his virtue and budget for tickling the parts together.
Elrog tubes are real expensive german tubes. They may be of good quality, but as this company is quite new there are no long term experiences.
The company has changed its name now and the owner is now Thomas Mayer.
So if you ask him about his tubes, dont expect to get a neutral answer. All you would get is marketing speech bla bla.

Back a few years ago I used Chinese metal plate 845's. Now I see they are getting pricy, but they were good. Nicer than graphite.
+1 on mod to GM70, just a septar socklet and a 20V heating.Do mod your amp to GM70 tubes and youre out of the expensive tube nirvana.
