Hey people,im a newby when it comes home theatre systems so I need some advice.
I am a student and dont have much cash to splash but I do have something to work with.
The amp Ill be using is an entry level Pioneer 5.1 120 Rms.
Speakers (set of 5) sound crap so I already knew the drivers had to be replaced.The enclosures sure look very nice and well braced inside,so the boxes were all I was really interrested in.The fronts consists of 2 8inch(4ohm) woofers and one tweeter(6ohm).8ohm overall and ported
What I need to know is what can be done to increase the sound quality of these speakers.?I know one must be using the best spekers one can afford but here in South Africa things are so difficult to find or just costs an arm and a leg when it comes to home audio.Any fellow South Africans on here?
What about using good car audio speakers?People have told me to use normal car audio tweets since they are more sensitive but hate too mutch treble in a system.
Would one have to change the crossover aswell for an increase in SQ and can one use passive crossovers from car audio systems?
Im clueless when it comes to crossovers and need to learn how to match them with different impedences etc.
Is there anything I can do with these inclosures to improve on the SQ.I listen to alot of rock and Im especially fond of the bass an drums.
Sorry for all the daft questions but I guess I must start somewhere since accoustics is a growing passion for me.
Any advice or reading up I can do will be greatly appreciated.

well, you woulden't be able to just start throwing drivers in those boxes, and expect it to work, you would pay more in crossover parts to get it to work properly, why not build a inexpensive pair of book shelf speakers. ?
Car audio tweeters are power hungry too, What is your budget ?
BTW, those speakers don't look that well braced at all 😛

You might try this arrangement for the woofers.
Note that the polarity of one driver should be reversed. If you want to keep time emission-coherence on axis , you'll have to change the box and recess one woofer as shown in this example

You can also leave only a couple of binding posts if you do not intend to bi-wire.

Yep.keep the bi-wiring.It may not be essential , but it may help.
On the other hand , try a nose-to-nail push-pull.It will free you from the towers!
