Need to resurface subwoofer surround

I put a pair of old Pioneer 12" subs in a budget build. The plan was to use them while ordering some new woofers, but they are performing so well I'm going to leave them in. There is one issue that I would like to fix and that is the surrounds. They appear to be made of rubber, topped with mesh and coated with paint. I'm thinking rubber paint, but regular paint might do the trick. Any Ideas?

Flowable Silicone, the kind you find for repairing leaky windshields, I use it all the time to repair surrounds.
I have a post somewhere showing the fix I did on one of my old JVC drivers with the stuff.
It is so thin you can paint it on to the surround with a small model paint brush and let it set.
