That is not entirely true as a new mixer will have mediocre opamps too.
Just don't expect real good opamps in mixers.
Well i don't need "real good opamps", the ones it has inside sound just fine as far as music is concerned. I just want less hissing on the mike inputs.
Just as I said: you need real good opamps ( which will hiss less than the current ones). Also metalfilm resistors are recommended.
Although it's an interesting project ( at least for educational purposes) I would only start when I would have a good use for the mixer.
